You can enjoy your Wilmington jet ski rental in a five-mile stretch of The Intracoastal Waterway including Snows’ Cut. This is considered the “Bay” or “sound.” Waters are usually pretty calm depending on boat traffic. The Intracoastal Waterway width varies, but at a minimum about 200 feet of safe width. Your instructor goes over and points out the boundaries to each operator and group. We have boundaries in place to ensure your rental is safe and enjoyable. Traveling outside of boundaries almost always leads to getting stuck on a sand bar. This is a huge safety issue where you may endure razor sharp oyster shells and a long wait for return of the tide and possibly damaging the watercraft and an additional recovery fee IF we can even get to you. In other words, you are given plenty of freedom in the designated riding area, so please don’t stray! IT’S NOT WORTH THE RISK!
YES! We can go jet skiing in the ocean, with permitting conditions and a guide. Ocean riding can be the most awesome experience ever with amazing views and abundant wildlife, including dolphins and sea turtles. However, this is not always an option and can be physically demanding. Therefore, it will be at CBJSR staff discretion. IF you are interested in going into the ocean please let CBJSR staff know before making your reservation and we will do our best to accommodate you! Ocean riding is STRICTLY PROHIBITED without a guide. If you go into the ocean without a guide, or permission from CBJSR staff, your jet ski rental is ended immediately without refund.
